The Belton High School Color Guard, proudly established in 2013, is a spirited and dedicated team based in Belton, Missouri. Since our founding, we’ve grown into a vibrant part of the school’s performing arts program, combining precision, creativity, and passion in every performance. We are honored to represent our school and community at local, regional, and state events—and take great pride in sharing our spirit wherever we go.

Meet the Coaches
|
Ian McCann
Ian is the guard's Head Director. He started in 2019 and after graduating he returned to coach in the Fall of 2022. He has also preformed with The Crown Jewel Independent Winter Guard in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Ian is super excited for what Guard has to bring for our team and to watch us grow as performers! Mr. McCann is also a talented musician and Horn player. He is a former Drum Major and has previously marched with Missouri Western State University. Ian if often seen traveling across the region working with other programs for things such as auditions, props & equipment and clinics. |
Zander Green
Zander is the Assitant Coach. He began working with Belton's Guard Program in Fall 2024 when he wrote the Rifle Feature for the Marching Show. In addition, he has worked with other programs to assist in auditions and designing/teaching weapons and dance choreography. Zander has been proud to preform with these programs: Troopers World Class Drum Corps 2024 and 2025; Andesine of Central Missouri 2026; Crown Jewell Independent 2024 and 2025; Ionic Independent 2023; Madison Scouts World Class Drum Corps 2022; and Smithville High School 2018 to 2022.

Shelby is the Middle School Coach. She has altered the high school guard’s uniforms for the last couple of years. This will be her first year joining the Belton coaching staff. In addition to Belton, Shelby has also worked with other programs to assist in auditions and dance technique, as well as writing choreography. Shelby began her passion for dance as a tiny tot in a dance studio and would go on to train for 17 years and participate in competitive dance. Shelby has been privileged to perform with these programs: Crown Jewell Independent 2024; Ionic Independent 2023; MCCGA and WGI solo competitions 2022 and 2021; and Liberty North High School 2016-2020.
